                   ANTIGONI KAPOUTZI
                     The Ambassador

Inspired by her own town, the jewellery designer captures
the aqueduct, the water path that gave life to Kavala’s pop-
ulation, in an elegant collection under the name “Kava-
la”.
What was the reception of your collection “Kavala by
Antigoni”? I believe the reception from my fellow Kaval-
ians was impressive; they were very proud for it. But now
that the collection travells all over the world, I receive great
appreciation and admiration for the aqueduct monument.
Some even express their interest to visit Kavala, which makes
           me really happy.
You have become an “ambassador” of your city, in a way.
How does that make you feel? I am delighted. Kavala is a
very beautiful city that faces the infinite blue of the sea, a
city that combines amicably the Balkan colours and culture
with that of the East. Speaking on the terms of silversmith,
           it is a genuine diamond.
What do you miss about Kavala when you are in Zurich?
The sea and its iodine smell, but most of all I miss my fam-
ily, the Greek feeling of respect and honour and the smil-
           ing faces of people.
How do you spent your days when you are in Kavala?
I will be mostly in my workshop with my collaborators,
but there is always time for my family, a good company
           and friends.
Which are your favourite spots in Kavala? The narrow
streets in the Panagia peninsula and the boatyard are the
ones I visit whenever I have the chance, as well as the port
and its fishing boats, which is a typical picture of the city.
Thankfully, Kavala is built amphitheatrical, combining
both mountain and sea, while the beautiful, verdant island
of Thasos is close enough for small escapes.
What are your future plans? I want each of my creations
to form an aesthetic experience, with a direct connection
to everyone who chooses an Antigoni jewell. Switzerland’s
market remains a main interest, and through collabora-
tions with famous brands I pursue to present my jeweller-
           ies in other countries too.
